Just a little review of the Butter London Patent-Gel Top & Tails.
It claims to be able to put patent-leather shine on your fingertips, without harsh chemicals or UV lamps. As usual with Butter London products, it is free from Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene or Camphor. It comes with a basecoat and a topcoat and it is recommended that you use both together.
Application: Apple one coat of basecoat and allow to dry completely. Follow with whatever nail colour you desire. Then apply one coat of topcoat and let dry.
Removal: Any nail polish remover.
So what are my thoughts on this product?
The shine was there and I think the basecoat really helped to prevent my nails from yellowing. However, the topcoat was a bit of a disappointment, especially since it CLAIMS to lock in the colour for a long-lasting manicure. By the 3rd day of my manicure, I could see hairline cracks all over my manicure; this never ever happens with Seche Vite. Despite the small cracks, my manicure remained fairly intact. After one week, there were barely no obvious chipping. Just the typical chipping at the tips of my nails; though I think that has got to do with the way I paint my nails. I never bother "wrapping" the tips of nails with nail polish. Removal was easy and no different compared to when I used other types of basecoat/topcoat.
Overall, I think it is a fairly good product but definitely not as great as Butter London wants it to be. For the price S$56, which works out to be S$28 per bottle; I personally think it could be better. I would probably stick to my Seche Vite or one from Sally Hansen.
